Do Math and Move Like You’ve Never Learned Before!

--

We are seeing more and more that students are spending less time outside and more time inside and being in school all day, cooped up in a classroom is not helping. While we can’t always take our lessons outside, my projector’s power cord can’t reach the back door, we can get our kiddos moving inside. Not all physical activity needs to be done outside and it’s time to introduce our students to that while also getting them up and moving!

The easiest way to do this is to get up from their desks and moving around. An example of this is a math lesson on simple addition. These students get a chance to move around while simultaneously practicing their simple addition skills!

But it doesn’t have to stop there! You can see how engaged these students are in this activity because they are having fun. The teacher seamlessly paired learning with movement in this fun and engaging lesson and you can too!

By pairing learning with movement, students increase the amount of oxygen to the brain and can enhance their understanding of the lesson. This doesn’t have to be done in a large scale activity such as this, but you CAN turn your math lesson into a math lesson with movement by getting creative and imaginative.

Now you try! It’s your turn to get your students learning and moving. Get their input, brainstorm, come up with the best way to learn and move and let me know what works!
